DEFINE

HOBBEES requires to have a platform that inspires users to learn, create, and share all at once.

They aim to usher in a new era of knowledge sharing, enabling people to create and discover content and connect in novel and unique ways.

THE PROBLEM

Learning new hobbies is time-consuming and not accessible.

New hobbies are really hard to discover and take a long time to master.

PAIN POINTS

Hobbies are:

  • Time-consuming

  • Hard to find

  • Hard to master

  • Not community oriented

USER NEEDS

  • Interact with other people

  • Explore new hobbies

  • Short lessons

THE SOLUTION

A virtual creative space/studio mobile app that provides a conducive environment for users to be inspired, learn, and create.

I facilitated the user's customization of the app while also creating an inclusive environment that encourages community involvement and knowledge exchange

IDEATE

WIREFRAMES

To come up with the best solution, I researched other social media apps such as Instagram and Tiktok to find their strengths and weaknesses and take them into consideration while developing HOBBEES.

I came up with the following wireframes:

PROTOTYPE

HIGH-FIDELITY SCREENS

The user starts at the content page in which they can browse all the different hobbies that are recommended to them and even save them to view later. I included live lessons, in which users are able to connect to someone teaching live on the app.

Once the hobby is clicked, the video lesson pops up with a like, a comment, and a share feature.

The user can also scroll to view more information and instructions so they complete the lesson smoothly.

Content Page

Information

The explore page allows users to search through the database to find a specific hobby to practice or to simply browse. They can also save them to practice later on.

Explore

The profile page allows the user to provide enough information to build a complete profile that attracts others to follow and learn from.

They can post, view their impressions, select their interests, and view their saved posts.

Profile

The chat page uses a simple but familiar interface to the user in which they can send and receive messages or posts, as well as react to them.

TEST

FUTURE DIRECTION

If I had more time, I would have conducted task analysis and competitive analysis to gather valuable insights and integrate them into my designs. I would have also performed a round of usability tests to get feedback on the designs and optimize the flow.

REFLECTIONS

I’ve always enjoyed hypothetical consulting assignments and was really inspired by this one specifically. It was one of my first social media design projects, I learned a lot about essential elements that exist in social media apps as well as the importance of community and enrichment.

That’s the end of this project.
